Cllr Jon Collins took on the challenge to walk a marathon-a-day on the Pennine Way in aid of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library book gifting scheme.
He set off on Friday 24 August 2018 from Edale in Derbyshire, walking the 267 mile Pennine Way to Kirk Yeltholm in Scotland, averaging around 26 miles a day.
Cllr Collin’s aim was to raise £10 per mile, with an original fundraising target of £2670 but met this quickly and doubled the target to £5340. The final total raised was an amazing £6,225!
Cllr Collins said ‘It was a tough challenge to say the least, especially trudging through the days of non-stop rain, but when the clouds broke and the sun came out the scenery was spectacular. It was completely worth the effort, and the sore feet, to raise money for the Imagination Library’.
